OCTC Hosting Art Exhibit, Hai Soe

Owensboro, KY (09/24/2018) — Owensboro Community & Technical College's (OCTC) Dayman Gallery is currently hosting a student exhibit. Hai Soe's Associate in Fine Arts Exhibition includes a selection of his oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. Thematically, many of the paintings included in the exhibit represent wildlife and portraiture executed in a representational and colorful manner.

Soe has actively exhibited his paintings within our region. His paintings have been selected for inclusion in numerous juried competitions including the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art's plein air competitions and the Owensboro Art Guild Annual Juried Exhibitions and through this, Soe has earned several awards for his achievement in painting. Soe has also regularly exhibited his art in the OCTC's Student Art Exhibitions. His work is included in the permanent collection at OCTC and has been featured in the Skylark publications.

Hai Soe moved to Owensboro six years ago from the Austin, Texas area. He graduated from Owensboro High School in 2015. For the past three years, he has been an art student at OCTC and during this time, Soe has worked as the student assistant for the Visual Art Department.

About his art, Soe stated, "I love to paint landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. My preferred medium is watercolor, but I continue to explore others, especially oil and acrylic." Upon graduation, Hoe is interested in furthering his studies in art at Georgia Southern University.

The exhibit is free and open to the public, it will be on display from September 17 to October 19. The Dayman Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of the Learning Resource Center on OCTC's main campus. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information contact Monty Helm at 270 686-4626.
