Enjoy a live performance of Little Women this weekend!

Owensboro, KY (11/15/2021) — Owensboro Community & Technical College's (OCTC) Oak Island Theatre presents Little Women on Friday and Saturday, November 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. and if offering a matinee performance on Sunday, November 21 at 2 p.m. All shows are hosted in OCTC's Blandford Lecture Hall in the Humanities building on the main campus, located at 4800 New Hartford Road, Owensboro.

Oak Island Theatre's production of Little Women is a heartwarming take on Louisa May Alcott's classic book. This version is adapted and directed by OCTC Adjunct Professor, Grae Greer, who created a different reality for the March women. Greer commented, "I have always loved this story, but knew that to capture modern audiences, Jo March needed a different ending. It's the ending that Alcott wanted to begin with, so this is my little tribute to her legacy."

The collaborative cast consists of OCTC and KWC students along with community members in the region. Greer added, "There are first time performers, actors who have been performing for 10+ years, an actor who is returning to the stage after a 15 year hiatus, and actors who are stepping out of a director role and into the spotlight."

Many of the cast and crew are enrolled in OCTC theatre courses designing the set, costumes, and music. In the role of Laurie Laurence, OCTC student Lance Burdette, a first time actor to the stage, was also a member of the design team. "It has been so surreal from start to finish. From designing the set to curtain call... I'm truly thankful for every moment" reflected Burdette.

Audience member, Jacynda Wyatt saw the production last weekend. "This play will make you feel like you want to cozy up on the couch with the March sisters and become part of their world. From laughter, to tears, you won't want the story to end" added Wyatt.

The cast is made up of OCTC student Lance Burdette as Laurie Laurence, Macy Dame as Jo March, OCTC student Alex Ezell as John Brooke, Emily Malone as Marmee, Jadd Miller as Mr. Laurence, Ali Peacock as Meg March, Mabrey Rice as Amy March and Ryleigh Wyatt as Beth March.

Tickets are $7 for general admission, $3 for students, OCTC employees and children under 12 years of age. To learn more or reserve your tickets please email grae.greer@kctcs.edu with your requests, seating is limited due and masks are required in OCTC buildings.
