OCTC Awards Camp & Greer Earn Accessibility Services Awards

Owensboro, KY (01/14/2026) — Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) announced the recipients of its 2025 Accessibility Services Awards during a recognition event held on December 12, 2025. These annual awards honor faculty and staff members who demonstrate exceptional dedication to meeting the diverse needs of students through inclusive and accessible practices.

Recipients are selected through nominations submitted to the Counseling Center. This year's honorees are Krista Camp, Career & Life Skills program coordinator, who received the Accessibility Services Staff of the Year Award, and Grae Greer, Theatre instructor, who earned the Accessibility Services Faculty of the Year Award.

Faculty Accessibility Services Award Recipient: Grae Greer

Grae Greer, Theatre instructor, received the Accessibility Services Faculty of the Year Award for her exemplary commitment to inclusive teaching practices and student success.

An Owensboro native, Greer has taught in the theatre program and led the Oak Island Theatre group as an adjunct instructor since August 2021. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance and Production from Marshall University.

Following the completion of a professional acting contract in New York City, Greer returned to Owensboro to help strengthen the region's arts community. Her courses at OCTC focus on Shakespeare, technical theatre, and acting techniques. She is deeply passionate about the connection between human development and the arts, as well as breaking down the misconception that "imagination is only for kids."

In 2018, Greer founded Bluegrass Community Theatre, where she works to connect, develop, nurture, and advocate for theatre artists of all ages, experience levels, and abilities. She has also served as marketing director and resident educator at RiverPark Center, teaching art, costuming, and technical theatre classes for elementary through high school students.

Greer was honored in 2022 with the OCTC President's Award for Adjunct Instruction. Her Accessibility Services Award nomination highlighted her vital role in reviving Oak Island Theatre following the COVID-19 pandemic and praised her energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to advancing the program through collaborations with local theatre organizations, area high schools, Bluegrass Children's Theatre, Encore, and RiverPark Center.

Staff Accessibility Services Award Recipient: Krista Camp

Krista Camp is the recipient of the Accessibility Services Staff of the Year Award for her outstanding contributions to OCTC's Career and Life Skills (CLS) program, which prepares students for successful transitions into adult life through inclusive higher education.

Camp has been employed at OCTC since July 2024. Prior to her current role, she was a medical speech pathologist in Louisville, KY and a school-based speech pathologist in Salt Lake City, UT. Upon moving back to her hometown of Owensboro, she became a school counselor with Union County Public Schools from 2021-2024. Camp holds a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Louisville and a Master of Arts in Education in School Counseling from Campbellsville University. She brings a strong background in supporting students who face challenges to overcome obstacles and reach their potential.

Camps imact extends well beyond the traditional classroom instruction. This semester, she created meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for her students through projects such as Ryan's Case for Smiles and WBKR's Christmas Wish. Through these initatives, the students developed a teamwork and coordination skills while experiencing the importance of service to others. In all settings, Camp's respect for her students' hard work and growing abilities is evident.
