OCTC Foundation Participating in Giving Tuesday

Owensboro, KY (11/27/2024) — The Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) Foundation, Inc. is participating in Giving Tuesday again this year, joining millions around the world in the global generosity movement on December 3, 2024. The OCTC Foundation, Inc. helps students overcome obstacles to their education by providing resources such as emergency funds and scholarships, but these services are only possible due to the generosity of our alumni, community, and supporters. Occurring this year on December 3, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year, the OCTC Foundation, Inc. has set a goal to raise 25 gifts on this day and encourages supporters to take a look at the ways they can change a student's life by visiting their website: https://alumni.kctcs.edu/g/octc-giving-tuesday-2024. The Bill Mattingly Memorial Scholarship, OCTC Community Healthcare Scholarship, TRiO Student Supportive Services, and emergency fund are just a few of the resources that are listed on the site that help students succeed and stay on the path to completing their education.

Sydney Warren, who serves as the OCTC Foundation, Inc. Executive Director, added, "Education is the tide that lifts all ships, and together, we can make a difference. I have seen how your generosity directly impacts our students and their families. Due to your support for scholarships and emergency funds, the foundation can work with students to help alleviate the costs of an education or overcome an unexpected hardship such as transportation issues."

OCTC is dedicated to providing access to a quality education and ensuring students successfully reach their goals. A student who received a scholarship this year stated, "Having been awarded this scholarship, it gives me pride in knowing that someone else can appreciate the hard work that I put forth and believes in my success enough to invest in my future." All gifts, no matter the size, make a difference in the lives of OCTC students, and we greatly appreciate the generosity of our OCTC friends, faculty, staff, and alumni. We will be posting updates and giving links on the OCTC Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages, and we hope you will join us by not only contributing but sharing with your friends.
