OCTC Helps Saints & Sinners Raise Funds
Owensboro, KY (04/20/2018) — Rain did not slow down the 3rd annual Reverse Yard Sale at Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) held Saturday, April 14, 2018. OCTC's Cornerstone Ministry, a student organization, hosts the yard sale benefiting St. Benedict's Homeless Shelter and Friends of Sinners. Titan Contracting & Leasing and Life Community Church partnered with this year's event to provide additional yard sale locations. Added support for the sale came from Go-Mini Storage of Owensboro who provided free storage of donated items prior to the sale, and coffee was provided by the local Starbucks.
Collectively, the three yard sale locations, the online auction, and the motorcycle poker run, raised more than $6000. Volunteers play a critical role in any event, and these events took lots of manpower across Owensboro. Volunteers serving at the OCTC location included OCTC alumni Amanda Gray, Blake Christian, Nick Eskridge, and Matt Shown. Current OCTC students that volunteered included Eva Cash, Natalie Ellis, Emma Lackore, and Kobe Shrewsberry, who each put in a minimum of 20 hours of work towards pricing, prepping, and working the sale. In addition, participants and staff from St. Benedict's and Friends of Sinners served tirelessly during the event from set-up to shut-down.
Harry Pedigo, Joe Welsh, and OCTC's Meredith Skaggs coordinated the event. For more information follow the Saints and Sinners Reverse Yard Sale's Facebook page or contact Dr. Meredith Skaggs at meredith.skaggs@kctcs.edu.
