OCTC Hosting 2nd Annual Women's History Month Event

Owensboro, KY (03/26/2018) — Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) is hosting "WISE Women at Work", a panel discussion featuring women in non-traditional occupations, in honor of Women's History month on Tuesday, March 27 at 12 noon. The event will take place in Blandford Lecture Hall, located in the Humanities building on the main campus at 4800 New Hartford Road.
"We are excited to be able to offer this event for our students. It is important to explore all career options without regard to gender and we appreciate that these women are willing to share their experiences", added Scott Williams, OCTC President.
The panel will feature Rebecca Davis an architect with Axiom Architecture, Shannon Raymer a firefighter with the Owensboro Fire department, Brooklyn Maple the Marketing Director at Kentucky Legend, and Tonia Brown operating technician at Kimberly-Clark.
Rebecca Davis is an architect with Axiom Architecture with over nineteen years of experience. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Western Kentucky University and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Kentucky.
Shannon Raymer is the first female firefighter for the Owensboro Fire Department. She is a certified Emergency Medical Technician and Hazmat Specialist, certified Personal Trainer, Fitness Instructor, Nutrition Specialist and CrossFit Coach. She earned a Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Kentucky University and an Associate in Science degree from OCTC.
Brooklyn Maple is the Director of Marketing at Kentucky Legend. She worked in the food industry for two years and in the cruise industry for seven years. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management degree.
Tonia Brown is an Operating Technician at Kimberly Clark. She is currently an Owensboro Community & Technical College student and has been working in the field for over twenty-two years.
This is the second annual event hosted by OCTC's WISE-Women in Support of Education, a local group formed in support of women, the group also raises funds for student scholarships. For more information about the event or OCTC's WISE please contact nicole.nacey@kctcs.edu.
