OCTC Hosting Multiple Graduation Cermonies for May 2019

Wed., May 15 and Thurs., May 16

Owensboro, KY (03/28/2019) — Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) is expanding their May 2019 Commencement ceremony and will host two celebrations to accommodate all the families and friends of the graduates. The ceremonies will be held on Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16. Both programs will be held at the RiverPark Center and will begin at 6:30 p.m. OCTC has experienced record attendance during recent graduation ceremonies and has been offering both December and May options in 2017 and 2018. During the May 2018 ceremony the overflow capacity in the Jody Berry Theatre was at standing room only.

Vice President of Student Affairs, Kevin Beardmore commented, "We really felt that two ceremonies would be best for our students and their families and friends. Changing venues is an option but we really felt that the RiverPark is the ideal place for this type of celebration. We would rather expand and offer more options to attendees rather than implement a ticketing process that would limit the number of guests."

The programs participating in the Wednesday ceremony include the Allied Health programs: Administrative Office Technology, Emergency Medical Technician, Fire Rescue Science Technology, Healthcare Facilities Leadership, Medical Assisting, Medical Information Technology, Nurse Aide, Nursing, Paramedic, Radiography, Surgical Technology. In addition, all the Early College students will be included at this ceremony.

The programs slated for the Thursday commencement: Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Fine Arts - Theatre, Associate in Fine Arts - Visual Art, Agricultural Studies, Air Conditioning Technology, Automotive Technology, Business Administration Systems, Computer and Information Technologies, Computerized Manufacturing and Machining, Criminal Justice, Diesel Technology, Electrical Technology, Fire/Rescue Science Technology, General Occupational Technical Studies, Industrial Maintenance Technology, Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, Veterinary Technology, and Welding Technology.

The ceremonies are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16 at the RiverPark Center located at 101 Daviess Street in Owensboro. Graduates for both ceremonies are invited to participate in a rehearsal that will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the RiverPark Center on Tuesday, May 14.
