OCTC Hosting Recognition Event

Owensboro, KY (08/27/2019) — Owensboro Community & Technical College is kicking off September's National Preparedness month by hosting a presentation in conjunction with the National Weather Service recognizing that OCTC is a StormReady Supporter. The event will be held Friday, August 30 at 10:30 a.m. in Blandford Lecture Hall, located in the Humanities building, on the main campus at 4800 New Hartford Road.

StormReady is a national program unveiled by the National Weather Service in April 2000. A community organizaiton must achieve a specific level of hazardous weather operation readiness in order to be accredited as a StormReady Supporter.

The event is free and open to the public. Rick Shanklin the Acting Meteorologist-in-Charge/ Warning Coordination Meteorologist from the NWS in Paducah, Kentucky is expected to attend and make remarks.
