OCTC Names Crowe VP of Students Affairs

Owensboro, KY (06/22/2023) — Dr. Ashleigh Crowe, a native of southern Indiana, joined Owensboro Community & Technical College in June of 2022 as the dean of student affairs, and after a national search was named to the position of Vice President of Student Affairs in June 2023.

The former Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Kevin Beardmore, left OCTC in December 2022 following a 23-year career at OCTC. Dr. Beardmore was named as the inaugural president of Southeast New Mexico College in Carlsbad, NM.

Crowe brings 15 years of experience from Indiana State University (ISU) and the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). While at ISU, Crowe served as an academic advisor, probation and mentoring program coordinator, associate director for first-year student outreach and support and advising administration director. She completed her time at ISU serving as the academic advising executive director, providing leadership for the University College advising program and Center for Student Success and supporting retention initiatives. Crowe also served as an instructor at ISU for first-year seminars and academic recovery courses.

At UNI, Crowe served as a residence life coordinator. Crowe earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Ball State University, a Master of Science in Human Development and Leadership: College Student Personnel from Murray State University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction: Post-Secondary Teaching and Learning from Indiana State University.

She commented, "It's an honor to serve as the next vice president of student affairs at OCTC. I look forward to this new challenge and the privilege of engaging with students and serving alongside colleagues who make a positive difference in students' lives.

OCTC President, Dr. Scott Williams added, "Ashleigh's leadership experience in advising will serve our students well. We are excited to see how this opportunity can expand the reach of student affairs to connect to more students."

Crowe's responsibilities at OCTC will include providing leadership for all aspects of student affairs: admissions and student records, academic advising, financial aid, counseling and accessibility, experiential learning, and career services, and strategic enrollment management.
