OCTC's Hires Crowe as Dean of Student Affairs
Owensboro, KY (08/22/2022) — Dr. Ashleigh Crowe, a native of southern Indiana, joined OCTC in June as the dean of student affairs. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Ball State University, a Master of Science in Human Development and Leadership: College Student Personnel from Murray State University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction: Post-Secondary Teaching and Learning from Indiana State University.
Crowe brings 15 years of experience from Indiana State University (ISU) and the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). Her more than 11 years of experience at ISU included her most recent position as academic advising executive director, providing leadership for the University College advising program and Center for Student Success and supporting retention initiatives. Other jobs at ISU included advising administration director, associate director for first-year student outreach and success, probation and mentoring program coordinator, and academic advisor. Crowe also served as an instructor at ISU for first-year seminars and academic recovery courses. At UNI, Crowe served as a residence life coordinator.
Dr. Crowe's research interests include case management advising models, serving students on academic probation, using instructional design techniques to build advisor training programs, and applying learning theories to the field of advising. She served on the executive board for the Indiana Academic Advising Network from 2019-2022 and has been an active member of the National Academic Advising Association since 2012.
She commented, "I'm so grateful to have been selected as the next dean of student affairs at OCTC! I love working with students and serving alongside colleagues who make a positive difference in students' lives and it's certainly a privilege to get to do that here at OCTC."
OCTC President, Dr. Scott Williams added, "Ashleigh's leadership experience is a perfect match for our Pathfinder Den. We are excited to see how this opportunity can expand the reach of the Pathfinder Den to connect to more students."
Crowe's responsibilities at OCTC will include providing leadership for the Pathfinder Den, success coaches, advising, and strategic enrollment management.
