OCTC's Nursing Program Providing Free CEUs for Healthcare Providers

Friday, Nov. 19, 1-4PM, remote option available

Owensboro, KY (11/17/2021) — Owensboro Community & Technical College is hosting a free professional development session geared toward healthcare providers on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 1-4 p.m. in the Chandler Conference Center (ATC107), located in the Advanced Technology Center, on the main campus of OCTC at 4800 New Hartford Road. Participants are asked to register prior to the event, limited seating available for the in person event, the remote attendees will be sent a link. Dr. Jitana Benton-Lee will present "Cultured Remedy: The Intercultural Development of Healthcare Providers".

The presentation will cover the cultural iceberg, equity minded care and cultural development, social determinants of educational attainment, the illness and clinical encounter, and prescription remedy and follow-up.

The event is held in conjunction with the KNA Green River Chapter and is eligible for 3.2 CEU hours through KBN. (KBN#1-0001-12021-90)

Jitana P. Benton-Lee is an assistant professor at Northern Kentucky University (NKU). She holds a Doctoral in Nursing Practice degree from NKU, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, a Master of Business Administration degree from Sullivan University and a Bachelor of Science degree from NKU.

Benton-Lee is a nationally certified Nurse Executive-Advanced and a Nurse Leader and Manager. She has received honors that include the Kentucky Organization of Nurse Leaders, Emerging Nurse Leader for Bluegrass District in 2019, a Women's Executive Leadership Development in 2018, and the UK Gatton College of Business and Economics Executive Leadership Development in 2016.

To be awarded contact hours for continuing nursing education, participants must stay for the duration of the program, complete an evaluation, and provide their license number. Partial credit will not be awarded for any session. The Kentucky Nurses Association is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN). The KBN approval of an individual nursing continuing education provider does not constitute endorsement.
