OCTC's Vet Tech Program 100% Pass Rate & Info Sessions

Online Info Sessions on March 2 and April 3

Owensboro, KY (02/06/2023) — Owensboro Community & Technical College's (OCTC) Veterinary Technology program graduates are prepared to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE). Areas of study include office and hospital procedures, client relations and communications, anatomy, physiology, parasitology, microbiology, clinical techniques, pharmacology, anesthesiology, surgical and medical nursing, radiology, and clinical pathology training. The Vet Tech program provides valuable real-world clinical and lab experiences to develop the skills needed to become a valued professional in the field.

The OCTC graduates earned a 100% pass rate on the exam this year for all first-time test takers, 33% above the national average. (Photo cred to Jacqueline Jackson. Even the horses got in on the celebration, but they both refused to wear the party hat!)

The staff hosts informational sessions to attract students interested in turning their passion for animals into a healthcare career. The virtual events are scheduled for Thursday, March 2, 2023, and Monday, April 3, 2023, at 4 p.m. All sessions will be held online via Microsoft Teams, and the links will be provided. Contact Dr. Laura Boarman, Program Coordinator, for more information. Interested students need only attend one session. Email laura.boarman@kctcs.edu.

Upon completion of the two-year program, graduates are prepared to sit for the national licensing exam (VTNE). These open houses give prospective students an overview of the program and demonstrations to simulate the lab experience. OCTC's vet tech program is a selective admissions program with limited seats available each year. The deadline for applications for Fall 2023 is May 1.
