OCTC specialty courses offer chance to explore unique interests

OCTC President Dr. Scott Williams commented, "These types of courses are not tied to a specific degree path, so they have a more relaxed atmosphere and usually appeal to a niche audience, so we want to promote them and highlight them for the community, so they have the opportunity to participate."

ART 270: Printmaking

This creative class begins Tuesday, August 20, class meets weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 - 3:45 p.m. at the Art Studio at OCTC's Downtown Campus, located at 1501 Frederica Street, Owensboro. For the fall 2024 offering of the course, all supplies will be provided.

Printmaking is an art process that involves transferring ink from one surface, such as a woodblock, to another surface, such as paper. This process allows the artist to make multiple original artworks of the same design, called an edition of prints.

Printmaking is a hands-on process that artists return to again and again for the satisfying, even therapeutic, repetition involved. After your first session carving into a woodblock, you will understand exactly what this means.
