OCTC Student Art Exhibit, Rebecca Fuqua

AFA Exhibition, Dayman Gallery, through November 16

Owensboro, KY (10/25/2018) — An exhibition of artworks by Owensboro Community & Technical College's Rebecca Fuqua is on display in the Dayman Gallery. The exhibition runs through November 16, 2018. Fuqua is a December candidate for an Associate in Fine Arts degree in the area of Visual Arts. The exhibit includes works completed during her course of study at OCTC.

Fuqua has exhibited her work in OCTC student art exhibitions and her work has been published in OCTC's annual literary and art magazine, the Skylark. Fuqua has been an active member of the OCTC Art Club.

In describing her art Fuqua states, "I have a large number of works, they are a compilation of my imagination. My artwork is very special to me, it shows many different periods of feelings I have had in my life. It could be a sad moment or a powerful moment. My favorite medium is painting. I love painting because you can work out your emotions through color or line segments and those emotions can spill on the canvas and explode. Art is how I connect to the world around me and also with the inner workings of my mind. My show is about what I feel when I do art. My portraits are monsters and demons in my mind or a feeling of light when I see something that makes me smile. My imagination can be a dark place or even a light place. My art represents the balance of light and dark. Lately my imagination is electrifyingly colorful."

The Dayman Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of the Learning Resource Center on OCTC's main campus at 4800 New Hartford Road. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information about the exhibit or the VIsual Arts program please contact Monty Helm at 686-4626.
