OCTC Student elected to KCTCS Board of Regents

Owensboro, KY (08/20/2020) — Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) student, Kara McFadyen has been elected by her peers to serve as one of two student leader representatives on the Board of Regents for the Kentucky Community & Technical College System.
"We are very excited to have one of our students participate as a KCTCS Regent. This experience requires dedication, but it will also provide a great learning experience for Kara. We are proud of all her achievements and know she will do a great job of representing the students and our region" added Dr. Scott Williams, OCTC President.
McFadyen lives in Morgantown and attends OCTC, she is working toward a double major in engineering and electronics technology and industrial engineering while finishing her homeschool high school degree. She is active with 4-H and on campus, serving as OCTC's student government president and as a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year colleges.
The other student representative, Meredith Walters lives in Mount Sterling and attends Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC).
The KCTCS Board of Regents includes 14 members. Eight are appointed by the governor and six are elected - two faculty members elected by faculty, two non-teaching members elected by non-teaching personnel and two members of the student body elected by student leaders.
McFadyen and Walters will serve one-year terms on the KCTCS Board of Regents. Their terms begin immediately.
