OCTC to Host TechX Information Sessions for Fall 2026 Cohort

Main Campus, IIC Bldg., 4:00 p.m. On June 9, July 8, and July 21

Owensboro, KY (05/26/2026) — Owensboro Community & Technical College will host a series of TechX Information Sessions this summer for individuals interested in exploring hands-on training opportunities in advanced manufacturing and industrial technology fields.

The free sessions will take place at 4:00 p.m. on June 9, July 8, and July 21 in the Industry Innovation Center (IIC) Lobby on OCTC's Main Campus, located at 4800 New Hartford Road in Owensboro. The TechX lab is located adjacent to the lobby, allowing attendees an opportunity to explore the learning environment and equipment firsthand.

Designed for students from all walks of life, TechX is a two-semester, hands-on training program focused on developing practical workforce skills in high-demand technical areas. Evening classes are held Monday through Thursday from 5:30-9:30 p.m., making the program accessible for working adults and individuals balancing other responsibilities.

The multi-craft program provides training in machining, robotics, forklift operation, rigging and lifting, and welding techniques including Stick, TIG, and MIG welding. The program is fully hands-on with no homework requirements.

"TechX gives students the opportunity to build real skills in a hands-on environment while preparing for careers in today's workforce," said Alicyn Rodgers, Workforce Solutions Program Coordinator and Career Navigator at OCTC. "Whether someone is just starting out, changing careers, or looking to gain new technical skills, this program is designed to meet students where they are."

Participants attending the information sessions will have the opportunity to meet instructors, learn about enrollment steps, and explore available funding opportunities, including Financial Aid and the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship.

Although TechX is certificate-based, credits earned through the program may later transfer into an associate degree for students who choose to continue their education.

The sessions are free and open to the public. No RSVP is required.
