The OCTC Foundation Partners with German American Bank for OCTC Spirit Card

Owensboro, KY (09/14/2020) — The Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) Foundation, Inc. and German American Bank have partnered together to introduce the OCTC Spirit Check Card. The check card, issued through German American Bank allows the community to give back to the OCTC Foundation, Inc. and benefit students simply by making everyday purchases.

The OCTC Foundation Spirit Check Card is available to any new or existing German American customer. Two cents of every purchase will go directly to the OCTC Foundation and will directly impact OCTC students.

"This was an opportunity we didn't want to pass up" said Mike Rodgers, OCTC Foundation Director and Chief Institutional Officer for OCTC. "This card will not only enhance the level of pride at OCTC, it will directly benefit students, two cents from each purchase adds up quickly will have an unbelievable impact on opportunities for students."

Cardholders will be able to use their OCTC Foundation Spirit Card anywhere Visa cards are accepted. Whether used at gas stations, grocery stores, or online, two cents of every transaction will go directly back to the OCTC Foundation, Inc. This offer is only the second Spirit Card available to any school in Owensboro. An Owensboro Red Devils Spirit Card was unveiled in 2019.

" German American Bank is excited to welcome the OCTC Foundation into our School Spirit Card Program, " shared Amy Jackson, German American Bank Regional President. "By the end of 2020, we estimate a total of around $43,000 will be donated to the schools participating in the School Spirit Card Program throughout our German American Bank footprint! The future success of our OCTC with this program."

In order to participate, visit any of Owensboro's three German American branches and sign up for a checking account. Be sure to ask about the OCTC Foundation Spirit Check Card and begin using the card for everyday purchases. Existing German American customers who wish to switch their check card to the OCTC Spirit Card can do so by visiting their local branch and making a request to switch to the new card.

The OCTC Foundation's School Spirit Check Card is now available at any of Owensboro's German American branches and is open to any member of the community wishing to sign up.
