CDL Academy Open House

4/20/23, from 11-2

by Bernie Hale

Owensboro, KY (04/06/2023) — In partnership with the Owensboro Riverport Authority (ORA), Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) will host a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Academy Open House for anyone interested on April 20, 2023.

The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, and will be held at ORA located at 1771 River Road, Owensboro. Prospective partner companies, students, and all community members can attend.

OCTC staff will be on hand to answer questions related to program applications, college enrollment requirements, and financial assistance. Information on funds to help offset the cost of training will be available to companies interested in CDL certification for new hires or incumbent workers.

OCTC's CDL Academy was launched in November 2021. Since then, we have enrolled 111 students with a 93% pass rate on the licensure exam. The academy works with over twenty companies providing work, earning sponsorships, and post-training employer placement.

OCTC President Dr. Scott Williams added, "This is really workforce development in action. If your business needs drivers, this is your opportunity to learn how to maximize your efforts in a cost-efficient manner."

For more information on the open house event, please contact katie.vincent@kctcs.edu or call 270-686-4423.
