OCTC Names Camp as College Counselor

by Bernie Hale

Owensboro, KY (01/19/2026) — Owensboro Community & Technical College has announced that Krista Camp has been named as the new College Counselor. Camp was most recently the coordinator for the Career and Life Skills (CLS) program, which prepares students for successful transitions into adult life through inclusive higher education. In her new position, she will provide counseling, career guidance, advisement, and registration services to a diverse student population.

Camp has been employed at OCTC since July 2024. Prior to joining OCTC, she worked as a medical speech pathologist in Louisville, KY, and as a school-based speech pathologist in Salt Lake City, UT. Upon moving back to her hometown of Owensboro, she became a school counselor with Union County Public Schools from 2021-2024. Camp holds a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Louisville and a Master of Arts in Education in School Counseling from Campbellsville University. She brings a strong background in supporting students who face challenges to overcome obstacles and reach their potential.

Camp commented, "I am excited to begin this new journey and have the opportunity to impact more students. That is the most rewarding aspect of this position."

In her previous role, Camp was recognized for impacting the students well beyond traditional classroom instruction. She created meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for her CLS students through projects such as Ryan's Case for Smiles and WBKR's Christmas Wish. Through these initiatives, students developed teamwork and coordination skills while experiencing the importance of service to others. In all settings, Camp's respect for her students' hard work and growing abilities is evident.

Camp assumed her new role on December 16, 2025.
