Dec. 2025 AFA-Visual Art Degree Candidate Exhibition Opening Reception
"Nature's Embrace," ft. OCTC AFA-Visual Art Degree Candidates Rosie Khu Mo, Bway My Psaw, & Katie Pierce
Owensboro, KY (11/25/2025) — Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) is pleased to announce the unveiling of a special three-in-one exhibition, Nature's Embrace, in the Dayman Art Gallery. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The exhibition is on display now through January 27, 2026. The Dayman Art Gallery is located on the upper level of the Learning Resource Center (LRE/Library) on OCTC's Main Campus and is open to the community Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
OCTC President, Dr. Scott Williams said, "These student exhibitions are always a highlight on campus. Nature's Embrace reflects the growth, creativity, and passion of our AFA candidates, and we're honored to celebrate their achievements with the community."
Nature's Embrace showcases nature-inspired artwork created by graduating Associate in Fine Arts - Visual Art degree candidates Rosie Khu Mo, Bway My Psaw, and Katie Pierce. Over the past two and a half years, these three students have demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication, consistently contributing standout work to every student exhibition. Each artist has earned accolades, and all three are represented in OCTC's College Collection. Notably, Katie Pierce's artwork was selected as the cover of Skylark in both 2023 and 2025.
This exhibition represents some of the strongest AFA capstone work presented in recent years. The artists have grown tremendously throughout their time in the program and have curated a thoughtful, visually striking showcase for the community to enjoy.
Abbi Ruppert, AFA-Visual Art Program Coordinator added, "In addition to strong artistic development, these students are leaving OCTC with practical skills that will place them ahead of the curve in their continuing education or search for employment: they know how to prepare their work for display, write an artist statement & artist bio, and collaboratively curate and install a group art exhibition. These are skills most art students don't learn until their last year of a bachelor's degree, if at all."
