Hale Awarded National Communicator of the Year for NCMPR

by Katie Powers

Owensboro, KY (03/26/2024) — The National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) held its national conference March 13-16, 2024, in Seattle, Washington, and Owensboro Community & Technical College's (OCTC) Bernadette Hale was named the 2024 Communicator of the Year. The award is one of the most prestigious presented to an NCMPR member who has demonstrated leadership and ability in college communications. It is awarded annually in each of NCMPR's seven districts, and district recipients automatically qualify to compete for the national award. Hale won the District 2 award in October.

Hale has been at OCTC since 1999 and holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from WKU, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Brescia University.

Dr. Scott Williams commented, "This work is a testament to Bernie's outstanding work and her leadership at OCTC. We are extremely proud of Bernie and her many accomplishments. We cannot be more pleased that the national committee honored her this way and no one is more deserving."

"I am excited about this award because it shines a light on OCTC and on the marketing team. I love my job because marketing is in a unique position. We serve as the voice of the students, the voice of the employees, and the community. We get to share the stories of our students, and it just doesn't get any better than that!"
