Lindsey Gets Jollay Scholarship and Earns GED in 3 Weeks!

by Bernie Hale

Owensboro, KY (10/04/2018) — Derek Lindsey is one of the most recent beneficiaries of the Jollay Scholarship. The scholarship allowed him to get started in the GED prep program right away. Lindsey earned his GED in less than three weeks! He is interested in a future career in engineering or healthcare and plans to attend Owensboro Community & Technical College in January 2019.

Lindsey scored high enough in each of the four test areas to be recognized as "College Ready" which will exempt him from taking a placement test in each of the corresponding subject areas.

"The staff of SkillTrain - Ohio County want to congratulate him on this accomplishment and we can't wait to hear about his next success" added Steve Finch, SkillTrain Instructor.

Jim Jollay's friends and family pay it forward with the Jim Jollay Scholarship for students working toward their GED. The scholarship may be used for supplies and fees. Jollay, whose wife is an employee in the Workforce Solutions division was passionate about SkillTrain's mission to help people better their lives through education. If you'd like to contribute to this fund, please contact the OCTC Foundation at 270-686-4663.
