OCTC Capital Bluegrass Band Announces Open Auditions for Two Ensemble Groups
Owensboro, KY (08/21/2025) — The OCTC Capital Bluegrass Band is excited to announce open auditions for its Ensemble Band class, with plans to form two distinct bluegrass bands this season. For the first time, these auditions will be open to the public, welcoming musicians from throughout the community to participate. The auditions will be held on Monday, August 25 from 6-8 p.m.
The auditions will take place at The Acorn Theatre, located in the Humanities Building, Room ###, providing an intimate and acoustically excellent venue for showcasing musical talent. Each participating musician will perform one song of their choice, allowing them to demonstrate their skills and musical style.
"We're thrilled to expand our program to include two bands this year," said Assistant Professor Scott Napier, coordinator of the Capital Bluegrass & Traditional Music program. "Opening the auditions to the public allows us to tap into the incredible musical talent in our community and allows more musicians to be part of our bluegrass tradition."
The selected ensemble groups will perform under Scott Napier's expert direction. He will use his extensive experience and passion for bluegrass music to guide both bands throughout the season.
Audition Details:
Venue: The Acorn Theatre, HUM 103
Format: One song performance per musician
Open to: Public participation welcome
Outcome: Formation of two ensemble bands
Director: Scott Napier
Musicians of all experience levels are encouraged to audition. Both traditional and contemporary bluegrass styles are welcome.
