OCTC Hosts Regional Robotics Championship

FIRST Lego League Competition Sat., Dec. 1, 2018

by Bernie Hale

Owensboro, KY (11/28/2018) — Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) is hosting a real-world robotics competition on Saturday, December 1 for students, ages 9-14.

FIRST Lego League (FLL) is an international robotics competition that introduces younger students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society. This year's theme, FLL Into Orbit, is focused on the challenges of space exploration. FLL teams will explore what it takes to live on a space station, or travel to another planet, and the critical innovation that will be needed to get Earthlings to Mars.

Six teams are scheduled to compete from Kentucky schools, including Adairville School, Heritage Christian School, Owensboro Catholic Middle School, Park City Elementary School, and Simpson County Schools.

Domtar and Owensboro Community and Technical College are sponsoring this year's event.
