OCTC Names Hoffman as Dean of Academic Affairs

Owensboro, KY (06/27/2023) — Owensboro Community & Technical College would like to announce that Kathy Hedden Hoffman, a native of Hancock County, Kentucky was recently named as the Dean of Academic Affairs for Professional and Technical Programs.

Hoffman has been at OCTC since 2007, served as department head for the business, health, and public service programs, and teaches first-year experience courses, veterinary microbiology, and biology. Hoffman holds a Master of Science degree in Medical Technology from the Catholic University of America, a graduate certificate in molecular laboratory diagnostics from Michigan State University, and a Bachelor of Health Science degree in Medical Technology from the University of Kentucky. She is also a Certified Medical Technologist through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

In 2021 Hoffman was nominated by her peers to receive the Faculty Award of Excellence. Her nomination described her as positively impacting the faculty within her division, consistently striving for excellence and creating a climate of continuous improvement. In addition to serving on multiple committees at OCTC, Hoffman currently serves as the president for the Hancock County 4H Council.

She commented, "This is a very exciting opportunity. There is unprecedented potential for our technical programs and I am honored to be selected."

OCTC President, Dr. Scott Williams added, "Kathy is perfectly suited to lead our technical programs. She has a great balance of technical and general education/transfer experience. "

Hoffman and her husband John reside in Owensboro. Hoffman's responsibilities at OCTC will include providing leadership for the all the technical programs, accreditation, and program-related accreditation.
