by Bernie Hale

Owensboro, KY (09/22/2020) — Owensboro Community and Technical College's Workforce Solutions division has partnered with a regional healthcare facility to host a career fair for prospective new hires interested in a phlebotomy career on September 24-25.

Recruiters will be on hand to share information about employment and the healthcare facilities fast track training partnership with OCTC, where hired applicants can earn wages while training to become certified phlebotomists. Phlebotomists are people trained to draw blood from a patient for clinical or medical testing, transfusions, donations, or research.

The Phlebotomy Career Fair will be held on Thursday, and Friday September 24-25, 2020 at OCTC's Downtown Campus located at 1501 Frederica Street, Owensboro. Applicants hired for this Phlebotomy Work & Learn program will train on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-7 p.m. for a ten-week period. Regular work hours will be based on the employer's schedule. Tuition and other course costs may be paid by healthcare facility.

Cindy Fiorella, Vice President of Workforce Solutions added, "This is an incredible opportunity to not only start a career with one of the top employers in our area, but also get your training completely paid for."

The event is open to the public and will provide assistance with the employment application process. Initial interviews will also be conducted.

Interested individuals may choose to attend the 9:30 a.m., the 11:30 a.m. or the 2 p.m. session. The multiple offerings of the 2-hour sessions are structured to allow for physical distancing and cleaning between sessions.

Masks are required and you must participate in a healthy check-in prior to attending your session. We ask that you do not attend if you are exhibiting COVID symptoms.
