by Ceary Crisp

Owensboro, KY (02/16/2023) — Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) will host an information session for the Plumbing Technology FastTrack program on Tuesday, February 28, at 5:30 p.m. in the Industry Innovation Center on OCTC's Main Campus.

FastTrack programs utilize an "earn and learn" model, providing students with opportunities to earn credentials quickly, so they can go to work in the field of interest as soon as possible. In addition to practical experiences, instruction is given in building codes and blueprint reading and students are prepped for licensure and shadowing.

Plumbing FastTrack courses begin with an online introductory course as well as lab courses that include Basic Plumbing Skills, Plumbing Principles, Plumbing Systems and Rough-in of Plumbing Fixtures. At the conclusion of the 12-month program, the student will earn multiple certificates including 1st Year Plumber Mechanic, Certified Backflow Tester, Finish Plumber, Service & Repair Plumber, Rough Plumber, 2nd Year Plumber Mechanic and Maintenance Plumber.

Plumbing FastTrack courses will be held from 5:00 -9:00 p.m. Monday & Wednesday evenings. The next class term for Plumbing FastTrack begins on March 13 in the Industry Innovation Center on OCTC's Main Campus at 4800 New Hartford Road.
