OCTC'S ITEC PROGRAM HOSTING INFORMATION SESSIONS
Owensboro, KY (03/31/2025) — The ITEC (Industrial Technology Enhanced Credentials) program at OCTC's Workforce Solutions is looking to enroll new students. This program is designed for dislocated workers with previous industrial experience who want to brush up on skills to prepare for gainful employment in industrial maintenance or incumbent workers who are currently employed in an industry setting or maintenance field.
The ITEC program is a unique certificate program offering seven courses/labs, which include Fluid Power, Maintaining Industrial Equipment, Circuits I, Electrical Motor Controls, Industrial Robotics and Robotics Maintenance, Programmable Logic Controllers, and Industrial Maintenance Capstone. Also included in the ITEC program are opportunities to earn national certifications in FANUC Material Handling and AMTEC Industry 4.0. The courses are set up to be completed within two semesters. However, students also have the option of taking only one or two courses each semester.
The courses are designed with a flexible schedule in mind. Students complete the coursework assignments online, then schedule their lab work in the Workforce Solutions Industry Innovation Lab with one-on-one assistance from a Master Instructor.
ITEC students are encouraged to utilize federal financial aid, the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship, and other potential funding sources. Employers can also offer employee tuition reimbursement where applicable. Students also receive support while enrolled in the program from the ITEC team: Program Coordinator Sonya Southard, Master Instructor Steve Southwood, and Director of Industry Training John Drane.
If you want to expand your knowledge and skills within industrial maintenance, you are invited to learn more about ITEC by attending one of the upcoming Information Sessions at the OCTC Downtown Campus on Tuesday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m. or Thursday, July 17 at 5:30 p.m. Please get in touch with Sonya Southard at 270-686-4485 or sonya.southard@kctcs.edu to RSVP or if you need more information.
