by Katie Powers

Owensboro, KY (10/28/2025) — Need a new career path, or a boost to get that promotion? Owensboro Community & Technical College's (OCTC) TechX initiative is a multi-craft technologist program offering hands-on training in a real-world, industrial environment. Learn more about this innovative program by attending the upcoming FREE information session on November 20. The session begins at 5:30 p.m. in OCTC's Industry Innovation Center (IIC) Lobby located at 4800 New Hartford Road. At the information session, there will be opportunities to listen to an engaging presentation, tour our facility and labs, participate in a Q&A panel with program instructors, and meet one-on-one with program instructors.

TechX offers hands-on training in welding, fabrication, forklift operation, rigging, and manufacturing in a real-world, self-paced, industrial environment. Through project-based learning, students will solve real-world challenges, and learn to think like a technician - analyzing, building, fixing and improving. Participants will have opportunities to work independently and in teams with problem-based scenarios related to the manufacturing processes.

Scholarship opportunities are available. TechX also works with employers for possible job placement upon skill mastery. OCTC is currently taking applications for the spring and summer cohorts. Classes are held Monday - Thursday, 5:30 - 9:30 p.m.
