Healthcare Career Fair to also be held

by Bernie Hale

Owensboro, KY (06/03/2025) — HealthForce Kentucky (HFK) and Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) are hosting an Open House on HFK's Mobile Classroom on June 5-6 at OCTC's downtown campus, 1501 Frederica Street to promote a three-week customized employer NAA 100 (Nurse Aide - CNA) training course on the mobile classroom in July.

Healthcare industry personnel, Workforce Solution partner organizations and interested parties are invited to tour and learn more about the mobile classroom unit and the CNA class, which will be held from July 7-25, including 30 hours of in-class instruction and 16 hours of clinical instruction.

"HealthForce Kentucky is a unique collaboration of colleges, universities and school districts throughout Western Kentucky to address growing needs for skilled healthcare professionals by providing wider access to the highest levels of instruction and technology," noted Bruce Williams, President/CEO of HealthForce Kentucky.

OCTC's Workforce Solutions team, provides eight-week CNA classes throughout the year, but this condensed, three-week offering is another unique way to help address the healthcare workforce shortage.

"This project is a great way to support HealthForce Kentucky's efforts in the region, while providing another opportunity for residents in Daviess, Ohio, McLean and Hancock counties to attain the CNA certification and help further their career," said LaTasha Shemwell, program coordinator at OCTC.

For more information about the CNA course or the Open House, contact Latasha Shemwell at 270-686-4455 or latasha.shemwell@kctcs.edu.

In conjunction with this event, the Kentucky Career Center will host a Healthcare Career Fair on Thursday, June 5 from 1-4 p.m. at the OCTC Downtown Campus, in the Fiorella Conference Room, located at 1501 Frederica Street, Owensboro, KY. 42301.
