OCTC Student Affairs Offices Return to Campus Center Following Geothermal System Installation

Brief service interruption scheduled for Thursday, July 10 as offices complete move

by Bernie Hale

Owensboro, KY (07/08/2025) — Owensboro Community & Technical College announced today that several key student affairs offices will return to their permanent location in the Campus Center on Friday, July 11, following the successful completion of a new geothermal heating and cooling system installation.

The START Center, Financial Aid, Pathfinder Den, Pathfinder Pantry, and Counseling Center have been temporarily relocated for several months while the energy-efficient geothermal system was installed in their building. These essential student services will resume normal operations from the Campus Center beginning Friday, July 11 at 8:00 a.m.

Brief Service Interruption

To facilitate the move, all affected offices will be closed on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Students and community members are encouraged to plan accordingly and contact the offices on Friday morning for any needed services.

Dr. Ashleigh Crowe, Vice President of Student Affairs, emphasized the commitment to minimizing disruption to student services. "While we understand that any service interruption can be inconvenient, we've worked diligently to keep this closure to just one day," said Dr. Crowe. "Our teams are fully prepared to resume all services on Friday morning, and we'll be ready to assist students with any needs that may have arisen during this brief transition."

Improved Campus Infrastructure

The new geothermal heating and cooling system represents OCTC's commitment to sustainable energy solutions and improved campus infrastructure. This environmentally friendly system will provide efficient climate control while reducing the institution's carbon footprint.

"We appreciate the patience and understanding our students and community have shown during this temporary relocation," said OCTC President Dr. Scott Williams. "The installation of this geothermal system is an important investment in our campus's future, and we're excited to welcome everyone back to the Campus Center."
