Oredein Named Associate Dean at OCTC
Director of Diversity & International Student Services
Owensboro, KY (02/12/2018) — After a national search, Dr. Adetokunbo (Ade) Oredein has been named the new Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Diversity and International Student Services for Owensboro Community & Technical College. Dr. Oredein began his duties on January 2, 2018, he replaces Dr. Lewatis McNeal who took a position with Northern Kentucky University's College of Education and Human Services as Assistant Dean of Administration, Inclusive Excellence and Special Projects.
Dr. Scott Williams OCTC President added, "Our pool of candidates was incredible, and we are thrilled to have someone with such a passion for community colleges. That combined with his academic credentials are a perfect fit for our mission."
Oredein has served as a higher education administrator for nearly a decade. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work with a minor in Sociology and a master's degree in Secondary Education and Counseling from Alcorn State University. He wanted to learn more about the community college system and selected Mississippi State University to earn his doctorate in Community College Leadership and Administration with an emphasis on student retention. Oredein is a proud Nigerian American from Reform, Mississippi.
The position is responsible for creating a campus environment that values the exploration and appreciation of diversity while promoting inclusiveness and global awareness. "Our campus community, and our students in particular, will greatly benefit from his experience and his commitment to excellence", commented Kevin Beardmore, Vice President of Student Affairs.
