Spring 2019 OCTC Student Art Awards
Owensboro, KY (05/09/2019) — OWENSBORO, KY (05/7/2019) Owensboro Community & Technical College art students participated in the college's Spring 2019 semester Student Art Exhibition. The culmination of the exhibit is the student awards, including Merit and Purchase awards. Katie Davis served as juror for the exhibit.
A first place Merit Award for Pachyderm Dreams, a ceramic piece, was earned by Angel Higdon. Katie Murphy won the second place Merit Award for her prismacolor drawing, Colored Still Life; Samantha Zolicoffer won the third place Merit Award for The Good New, an oil painting.
The first-place Purchase Award and Best in Show went to Miranda Blakeman for her prismacolor drawing, What The Future Holds. The second place Purchase Award went to Jereal McKenzie for his prismacolor drawing, Mother Mary. Felice Finch earned the third-place Purchase Award for Eyes, an oil painting.
The winning purchase award pieces become a part of OCTC's permanent collection. Faculty members Monty Helm and Lou O'Leary are teaching studio classes in painting, ceramics, drawing, and 3D design during the Fall 2019 semester.
