Tour of the Parks Events
Mondays from 10A-2P at local parks
Owensboro, KY (07/21/2021) — TTMA, Resource MFG, and Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) are proud to partner and present a Tour of the Parks. Tour of the Parks is an event focused on engaging community members with local HR and college representatives to explore career and educational options.
The events will take place over the next four Mondays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., at different community park locations. On July 28 the event will take place at Smothers Park, 199 West Veterans Boulevard; on August 2 the tour will be at Moreland Park, 1215 Hickman Avenue; the August 9 tour event is scheduled for Chautauqua Park located at 1809 Grimes Avenue; the final event will be on August 18 at Dugan Best Park, 2400 West 10th Street.
TTMA, Resource MFG, and OCTC representatives will hold onsite job interviews and staff will be on hand to enroll in OCTC for fall classes, or for GED prep classes. Individuals are encouraged to come explore these local career and educational opportunities. College and company personel will be on hand to answer questions and to help interested participants with processes.
In addition to offering onsite job interviews and college applications, there will be snacks and activities for children, and the option to register for giveaways. Lindsey Cline with TTMA said that the idea for a Tour of the Parks came while she and Brittany from Resource MFG were attending job fairs at the Career Center. They felt a series of events in the community might potentially reach people who had transportation or childcare barriers.
Clines stated, "The ultimate goal is to reach out to the community and make connections because, as one of the top five largest employers in the area, we have the ability to truly make a difference." After learning about a Tour of the Parks, OCTC came on board to be a part of the events and reach additional members of the community.
