TRiO member Nicholas Russell presented a workshop informing students about three different websites they should visit while searching for scholarship opportunities.

Students went on an adventure and assisted with the Daviess County Audubon Bird Count at Virginia Miles Nature Center.

Research on "learned helplessness" shows that when people feel like they have no control over what happens, they tend to simply give up and accept their fate. Don't fall into that trap! Dr. Ed Morris will teach you ways to overcome learned helplessness.

Cornerstone Campus Ministry hosted a Merit event with local author Bryan Taylor. Bryan is an Ohio County, KY native and tells the story of his wife's battle with cancer in a voice of empathy and compassion while motivating each of us to live looking for joy daily.

Students attended the Student Government Association's Fall Fling held on OCTC's Main Campus. Fling is an event held each semester to help raise money for student clubs and organizations, as well as introduce students to different resources offered at OCTC and in the Owensboro Community.

Students attended OCTC's celebration of Constitution Day with a presentation titled "Intent of the Founders: Does it Matter?" The presentation and panel discussion featured OCTC faculty members, Matt Alschbach, Dr. Angela Ash, and Dr. Court Lewis. On Constitution Day, we recognize the anniversary of the nation's constitution and the efforts and responsibilities of all citizens. In the summer of 1787, delegates convened in Philadelphia to create "a more perfect union" and to craft the country's constitution. They worked to develop a framework that would provide balance and freedom, taking into account national and state interests, as well as individual human rights. The delegates signed the Constitution of the United States on September 17, 1787. By June 21, 1788, the Constitution was ratified, having been approved by nine of the 13 states. Efforts to recognize citizens and the Constitution began in 1939, when newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst advocated a day to celebrate US Citizenship. In 1940 Congress created "I Am an American Day" to be celebrated on the third Sunday in May. On February 29, 1952, President Harry Truman signed into law "Citizenship Day." It was established to replace "I Am an American Day." On August 2, 1956, Congress requested that the President proclaim the week beginning September 17 and ending September 23 of each year as "Constitution Week." One additional change was made to the event when a federal law enacted in December 2004 designated September 17 as "Constitution Day and Citizenship Day."

Students attended a pizza luncheon with OCTC President Dr. Scott Williams, hosted by the Student Government Association. Dr. Williams discussed the many resources available to students and updated them on upcoming events on campus.

Students attended Owensboro's 20th Multicultural Festival, an event that celebrates diversity in the community and all over the world.

Students attended OCTC's Pathfinder Day - a new student orientation day held on OCTC's Main Campus. New students were able to find their classes, visit the cyber center, have their student ID made, explore the campus and much more in one family-friendly fun day!

Attended OCTC's Fall 18 Student Fest event held on OCTC's Main Campus. Students were able to explore different services provided by OCTC, as well as talk with representatives from community organizations that provide resources to OCTC students.
