Gardening helps improve overall mood, lower stress and anxiety, and boost self-esteem. This hands-on workshop not only explains various benefits of growing plants and vegetables but also allows students to be creative in self-expression through decorating the pots they will use to plant seeds.

Students participating in this workshop learned to look for various ways to save money by using community resources. For instance, taking advantage of services offered by Daviess County Public Library (DVDs and video games, seeds, passes to YMCA and History Museum, and Roku and hot spot checkout) and Kids Eat Free/Reduced Price at local Owensboro restaurants.

The TRiO Student Support Services Open House provided information about the services provided to TRiO members, including advising, transfer help, career counseling, academic support, tutoring, use of members-only computer lab, access to study materials, opporunities to attend cultural trips and transfer visits, and a place to fit in and build relationships.

Students participated in a workshop led by an Experiential Learning Center Success Coach. Resume skills and best practices to get noticed by recruiters and hiring managers were demonstrated.

Attended a student discussion with OCTC President Dr. Scott Williams. Sponsored by the OCTC Student Government Association (SGA).

Students who attended this workshop were introduced to various free online tutoring resources, namely Purdue University's OWL, Khan Academy, HippoCampus, and Purplemath. Additionally, students were reminded about tutoring services provided by OCTC's Teaching and Learning Center and TRiO.
