Owensboro Community & Technical College is a public, two-year, open admissions college accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is one of the sixteen colleges that make up the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS). The college values innovation, is focused on student learning, and is responsive to economic trends.  

Most OCTC students are from the counties of Daviess, Ohio, Hancock and McLean in Kentucky, but many others travel from elsewhere in Kentucky and southern Indiana. 

These Merit pages are used to celebrate the successes of our students and will serve them as an online portfolio of achievements.

Wise Women, Wise Choices, Wise Voices

Attended a women's panel discussion titled, "Wise Women, Wise Choices, Wise Voices," hosted by the OCTC WISE Committee. Panelists included Candance Brake, President/CEO of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, Pamela Smith-Wright, Owensboro City Commissioner, Barbara Tipmore, Director of Counseling Services and Title IX Coordinator at OCTC, Naheed S. Murtaza, JD and a faculty member at Brescia University, and Susan Montalvo-Gesser, JD and the Managing Attorney at Kentucky Legal Aid.

Early College Student

Through Early College, students attend classes on campus at OCTC full-time during their junior and senior years of high school. Typically this allows the student to graduate simultaneously with a high school diploma and an associate's degree.

Honor Dogs

Attended a presentation by Reuben Payne (and his service dog Stuart) and Jody McCarty (and his dog Dallas), about Tri-State Honor Dogs. This area group uses rescued shelter dogs to help veterans cope with the physical and mental effects of their service time. On the Main Campus, March 23, 2016.

Global Business and Industry in the Owensboro Area

Students attended an event hosted by the OCTC Global Studies Committee in conjunction with Michael Boyd, Professor of Business. The event included a presentation by Madison Silvert, President and CEO of the Owensboro Economic Development Corporation. This event was held at the main campus of OCTC on September 23, 2015, in the Chandler Conference Center. Silvert presented on a wide variety of global companies that are located in the greater Owensboro region and why this area is attractive to industry.
