Owensboro, KY (05/28/2026) — Owensboro Community & Technical College will host its Downtown Campus Open House on Saturday, June 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the OCTC Downtown Campus, located at 1501 Frederica Street in Owensboro. The event is free and open to the public and will take place rain or shine.

The open house will provide an opportunity for the community to explore OCTC's Downtown Campus, meet the people behind its programs and services, and experience the variety of training opportunities available throughout the facility.

"Whether someone is exploring educational opportunities, looking to build new skills, or simply wanting to learn more about OCTC, the Downtown Campus Open House is designed to welcome everyone," said Alicyn Rodgers, Workforce Solutions Program Coordinator and Career Navigator. "There truly is something here for students, employers, and community members alike."

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with staff, explore hands-on training areas, participate in games and activities, enjoy light refreshments, and enter to win prizes throughout the event.

"The Downtown Campus is home to a wide variety of programs and services, and this event gives the community an opportunity to come inside, ask questions, and experience what we do firsthand," said James Cecil, OCTC CDL Program Instructor.

Representatives from Adult Education, Workforce Solutions, and the Veterinary Technology program will be available to answer questions and share information. Adult Education representatives will be available to discuss English Language Learner and GED programs. Workforce Solutions programs featured during the event will include CDL training, TechX, Healthcare programs, GO FAME, ITEC, Computer Based Training/Flextrain (CBT/Flextrain), AMTEC, and Artificial Intelligence Innovation initiatives.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to learn more about OCTC's Veterinary Technology program and its partnership with Saving Paws Animal Rescue of Kentucky (SPARKY), a local no-kill animal shelter.

"OCTC is committed to providing accessible education and workforce training that supports both individual success and the needs of our region," said Sheri Plain, OCTC Vice President of Workforce Solutions. "Events like the Downtown Campus Open House allow us to connect directly with the community, showcase these opportunities firsthand, and help people discover programs that can support their goals."
