78th Annual Messiah, Rehearsals Begin Oct. 25

Singers Welcome

by Dr. Connie Ford

Owensboro, KY (10/19/2018) — The rehearsals for the Owensboro Choral Society's 78th annual performance of Handel's Messiah will begin on Thursday, Oct. 25, 7:00 p.m. at Third Baptist Church, 527 Allen Street, Owensboro, Kentucky. Rehearsals will continue on Thursdays at 7 p.m. on November 1, November 8, November 15, and November 29, as well as Saturday, December 1.

The performance is on Sunday, December 2, at 2:30 at Third Baptist Church and will be under the direction of Dr. Connie Ford, Professor of Music at Owensboro Community and Technical College and Chair of the Owensboro Choral Society. Singers are encouraged to bring their own scores, but may also be purchased at On Key Music, located at 507 East 18th Street, Owensboro.

Interested singers are welcome to participate in this honored, 78-year tradition. The first Owensboro Messiah performance was on Sunday, Dec. 7, 1941, the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. The Messiah, therefore, under the auspices of the Owensboro Choral Society, has been performed on a Sunday close to Pearl Harbor Day every year since.

During the performance donations may be given to the Goodfellows Club of Owensboro. In order to maintain this great tradition, gifts may also be given to the Owensboro Choral Society, Inc. which is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) tax exempt corporation. Contributions are deductible to the extent allowed by law.

For more information, please contact Connie Ford at connie.ford@kctcs.edu or by phone at 270-686-4629 or 270-929-1847.
