Embry joins OCTC as Coordinator for MIT and AOT Programs
Owensboro, KY (09/04/2018) — Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) is proud to announce that Julie K. Embry has joined the organization's faculty as an instructor and program coordinator for the Medical Information Technology (MIT) and Administrative Office Technology (AOT) programs. She is an alumnus of OCTC earning an Associate in Arts from OCTC. She went on the earn professional credentials from the American Academy of Professional Coders as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and the American Health Information Management Association as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
Dr. Scott Williams, OCTC President commented, "We are lucky that Julie is professionally credentialed in addition to her academic credential. It is important for our students to know the industry standards and can learn first-hand how those translate to the workplace."
Embry's experience includes various and extensive medical office settings, including owning her company, hosting courses and tutoring sections for national coding exams. She has a wide range of skills and wants to help the students build a broad knowledge base, so they will be well prepared in a multitude of office settings. Embry has taught as an adjunct instructor in the MIT program at OCTC since 2017.
"I am very excited to get started and work with the students. In today's fast paced and ever-changing workplace it is vital that the students continue to learn and adapt to the environment" added Embry.
Both the MIT and AOT programs offer associate in applied science degrees and have certificate options.
