OCTC Initiates "Stop the Bleed" Training

by Bernie Hale

Owensboro, KY (08/13/2018) — Owensboro Community & Technical College hosted an "Stop the Bleed" training on Friday, August 10, 2018. The course was taught by Jimmy Van Cleve, KCTCS Area 3 Coordinator. Employees participating in this initial offering included: Jacob Mashburn, Lisa Burns-Kirby, Ottaway Kirby, Jeffrey N. Hendricks, and Bernie Hale.

"The safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our number one priority. Our goal is to have as many employees as possible trained for any type of emergency situation, and preparedness is the key to making that happen" added Scott Williams, OCTC President.

Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and call-to-action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.

Additional dates for the training will be scheduled throughout the semester. For more information or to participate please contact jeff.hendricks@kctcs.edu.
