Owensboro Community & Technical College's Rover Team participated in the Owensboro Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 17, using the theme of "Wishing You a Peaceful Christmas on Earth...and Mars!".  The team built the float using the actual competition rover, repurposing an old satelittle dish on campus as the base for Mars.  Parade participants included: Mike Rodgers, Courtney Wright, Gage Cameron, Cassie Schultz, OCTC Rover Team Coach Shawn Payne, Ty Smith, Dr. Scott Williams, Jessi Wimsatt, OCTC's Pathfinder, Mary Kinney, Dr. Veena Sallan, Randy Crowe, Trace Crowe, Cindy Crowe, Dr. Meredith Skaggs, Bernie Hale, Danny Moseley, Taylor Crowe, Jeremy Hamilton and family.

Owensboro Community & Technical College's Professor David Martin accompanied four Hager Scholars to West Kentucky and Community College (WKCTC) on Friday, November 16, 2018. The students presented a research poster to four other teams from WKCTC and some representative faculty. The OCTC Early College students pictured are (l to r) Kaylee Meador, Brooklyn Knight, Kaylee Meador, Halley Stewart and Patrick Edge. Martin added, "The OCTC team handled themselves very professionally and fielded questions about their research completely and accurately. They represented OCTC and themselves very well." While the event was not a competition, it instilled professionalism in the students and gave them a group presentation experience. A group of Owensboro Community & Technical College's TRiO SSS students traveled to visit Versailles, Kentucky and toured the Kentucky Castle, formerly known as the CastlePost, and Maker’s Mark Distillery on Saturday, October 27, 2018.  The day provided the students with historical and cultural information. TRiO strives to provide enrichment activities for the students to broaden their horizons and experiences. Owensboro Community & Technical College will host a donor celebration event on Thursday, November 8, 2018 beginning at 4 p.m. in the Industry Innovation Center. The 35thAnnual Green River Firefighters Association Fall Fire School will be held October 26-28, 2018 on the main campus of Owensboro Community &Technical College at 4800 New Hartford Road, Owensboro. More than 250 firefighters are preregistered for the event offering classes that range from basic essential skills to more advanced modern vehicle rescue and disaster planning. Saturday and Sunday are full day classes, with hands on activities taking place in the afternoon on the campus grounds at OCTC.

An exhibition of artworks by Owensboro Community & Technical College's Rebecca Fuqua is on display in the Dayman Gallery. The exhibition runs  through November 16, 2018. Fuqua is a December candidate for an Associate in Fine Arts degree in the area of Visual Arts.  The exhibit includes works completed during her course of study at OCTC.    Fuqua has exhibited her work in OCTC student art exhibitions and her work has been published in OCTC's annual literary and art magazine, the Skylark. Fuqua has been an active member of the OCTC Art Club.

About Owensboro Community and Technical College

Owensboro Community & Technical College is a public, two-year, open admissions college accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is one of the sixteen colleges that make up the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS). The college values innovation, is focused on student learning, and is responsive to economic trends.  

Most OCTC students are from the counties of Daviess, Ohio, Hancock and McLean in Kentucky, but many others travel from elsewhere in Kentucky and southern Indiana.
