Students participated in a learning session presented by the ELC Team and members of the OCTC Financial Aid Dept. During the session, students reviewed personal finance techniques to support future success and learned about the importance of developing and following a budget. They learned of programs and scholarships to help ease their financial burdens and prepare for their future goals.

Students heard from a panel of first generation students from a variety of career paths speak about obstacles they encountered while in college, how they found success, and what they learned along the way.

Students participated in a learning session led by the ELC Team. During the session, students reviewed personal finance techniques to support thier future success and learned about the importance of developing and following a budget. This session was supported by Nathan Baer, a financial advisor from Edwards Jones Financial and facilitated by the Experiential Learning Center Success Coaches.

Participants will learn that emotional intelligence refers to the ability to identify and regulate their emotions and to use these abilities to communicate effectively and build healthy, productive relationships with others.

Students participated in a dynamic Team Problem Solving workshop that challenged them to leverage their critical problem solving skills in a team environment. Students worked with a cross section of differing perspectives to overcome barriers to communication and coorperation. ELC guided the groups and shared strategies for success to maximize effectiveness.

Students were taught how completion rate and GPA impact their ability to retain financial aid monies, including federal grants and loans. They also learned how to complete the SAP Appeal process if financial aid awards are jeopardized.
