Students attended TRiO's annual bonfire and listened to local historian David Wolfe tell interesting ghost stories involving some of Kentucky and Owensboro's creepiest haunted places.

Students engaged with hiring professionals from the area to discuss career opportunities and make network connections.

Student attended a presentation by Diane Vego of the Christian Appalachian Project (co-sponsored by Cornerstone Campus Ministry). Diane presented on Appalachian culture and community, as well as the flooding recovery efforts (which CAP is helping to lead).

Student attended a reading a presentation by the Fall 22 Common Reading author of In the Wild Light, Jeff Zentner.

Met with WKU transfer rep. about transferring to Western, applying, scholarships, etc.

Students participated in a learning session led by the ELC Team. During the session, students reviewed personal finance techniques to support thier future success and learned about the importance of developing and following a budget. This session was supported by Nathan Baer, a financial advisor from Edwards Jones Financial and facilitated by the Experiential Learning Center Success Coaches.

Students toured WKU and heard from the various departments about available degree programs.

Students participated in a learning session led by the ELC Team. During the session, students conducted assessments for career interests and skills that match to relative career fields. This session was facilitated by the Experiential Learning Center Success Coaches.

Students attended Owensboro Community & Technical College's Oak Island Theatre's production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. This production takes spell-bound audiences to a fictional contest held in a Middle School where six unforgettably peculiar early teens face each other in a competition supervised by three comically idiosyncratic grown-ups.

Students completed the Historic Tour at Mammoth Cave, exploring tunnels and narrow passageways while learning the history of the cave.

In this workshop, students learned all about loans, including principal, interest, grace period, default, and payment plans.

Students attended the ELC Lunch & Learn for Industrial and Technical careers and engaged in forum questions for a panel of representative from local technical and industrial partners.

Students attended common read event with Sarah McCartt-Jackson, author of "Write Where You Are: Poetry and Place". A Kentucky poet, educator, and folklorist Sarah McCartt-Jackson has been published by Indiana Review, Journal of American Folklore, The Maine Review, and many others. Her poetry books include: Stonelight, Calf Canyon, Vein of Stone, and Children Born on the Wrong Side of the River. She has served as artist-in-residence for Great Smoky Mountains, Catoctin Mountain, Homestead, and Acadia National Parks.

Students are involved or serving as an officer in Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two year colleges. Students must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework that may be applied to an associate degree, and part-time students are eligible. Students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or greater.

Students attended the Constitution Day presentation, "Should Secession Be Made A Consitutional Option?" led by Dr. Bill Conroy.

Students attended WKU-O Big Red - Movies on the Lawn Saturday, September 10. This event offered a variety of family fun activities that included inflatables, food trucks, and a free double feature, Finding Nemo and Jaws.
