Students participated in a workshop led by an ELC Success Coach to gain awareness and tactics to avoid credit card debt. The workshop provided education, skills and planning for student financial success.

Students participated in a presentation to offer Financial Literacy information in preparation for their success today and in their future endeavors as graduates. The session was led by an ELC Success Coach and had a guest speaker from a local Financial Advisor who discussed steps to Budget like a pro and learn rock solid savings strategies.

This workshop discussed the importance of dealing with mental health issues and strategies to reduce stress and anxiety. Participants were provided a stepping stone to paint, as painting allows us to temporarily leave our worries and troubles behind us as we focus on the painting before us.

Students attended a panel where first-generation and diverse students discussed challenges they faced and how they overcame them to be successful college graduates.

Students learned from Paige Laplante, local Musical Therapist about the impact of music on stress and the profession of music therapy. Paige, MT-BC from Integrative Music Therapy, LLC shared the effects music has in relieving stress and also about her job as a music therapist. This session was hosted by PTK and supported by OCTC's Counseling Office.

OCTC students had the opportunity to visit with representatives from local organizations who focus on health and wellbeing. This event was hosted by OCTC Nursing students.

Students attended a virtual session with information and tips for Banking as a college student. This event was hosted by an Experiential Learning Success Coach.

Students participated in a virtual learning session led by a Relationship Manager from the Handshake Career Placement Platform. After attending this session, students were able to create a profile for searching prospective employment options. This session was facilitated by the Experiential Learning Center Coordinator.

Kentucky Poet Laureate Crystal Wilkinson, author of this semester's Common Reading, The Birds of Opulence, visited campus for a reading of her new book and a discussion with faculty, staff, and students.

Attended the Domestic Violence Awareness Workshop hosted by OCTC's Counseling Center. The DDaviess County Domestic Violence Multidisciplinary Task Force presented to this workshop.

Attended a student discussion with OCTC President Dr. Scott Williams. Sponsored by the OCTC Student Government Association (SGA).

College can be confusing, especially for first-generation students. This workshop covered some college basics, such as academic plans, the differences between degrees (AA/AS/AAS), and the difference between what you can earn at OCTC vs. a university.

Students were given an academic planner and instructed on how to use it to effectively in hopes of helping them to stay on track with due dates and appointments, thus reducing stress and anxiety.

During the Fall 2021 Orientation session, students received a folder of information, including a list of tutoring resources, advising information, and calendar of TRiO-sponsored events. Sherry Lee presented a workshop on reading comphrension.

Attended the 4-Year College and University Transfer Fair sponsored by OCTC's Pathfinder Den on the Main Campus. Representatives from over twelve different universities and colleges spoke with students about transfer opportunities.

Students attended an event led by an Experiential Learning Success Coach to assist them in completing a personal Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats analysis.

Students attended annual Owensboro's Multicultural Festival.

In celebration of Constitution Day, students attended a presentation offered by Northern Kentucky University on Friday, September 17th. "Let's Talk Voting: An Hour with Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams." Secretary Adams discussed Kentucky's voting laws and how they have changed as a result of COVID 19. NKU asked that Secretary Adams discuss his thoughts on college students and voting, including how to improve access to polls for college students.

Students attended a session with Jane Elliott, internationally known teacher, lecturer, diversity trainer, and recipient of the National Mental Health Association Award for Excellence in Education. Ms. Elliot visited OCTC virtually via Zoom to discuss her mission of exposing "prejudice and bigotry for what it is, an irrational class system based upon purely arbitrary factors." According to her website, Elliott began this journey as a teacher in 1968, "In response to the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968, Jane Elliott devised the controversial and startling, "Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes Exercise." This, now famous, exercise labels participants as inferior or superior based solely upon the color of their eyes and exposes them to the experience of being a minority. Everyone who is exposed to Jane Elliott's work, be it through a lecture, workshop, or video, is dramatically affected by it."

Students attended a showing of "A Class Divided," sponsored by OCTC's Common Reading program. The film was shown in conjunction with a visit by Jane Elliot, internationally known teacher, lecturer, diversity trainer, and recipient of the National Mental Health Association Award for Excellence in Education.

Students were introduced to the Experiential Learning Center (ELC) by an ELC Success Coach. Students were introduced to the ELC Team and learned about services offered. Resume building, Internships, Job Shadowing Opportunities and other Career Building steps to future success.

Attended OCTC's Student Fest Fall '21 event held on OCTC's Main Campus. Students were able to explore different services provided by OCTC, as well as talk with representatives from community organizations that provide resources to OCTC students.

Student is participating in the OCTC Community Chorus directed by Dr. Connie Ford, Professor of Music. The chorus consists of community members, students, faculty and staff and was organized in the spring of 1987.

Students attended OCTC's new student orientation - Pathfinder Day - held on the Main Campus. Pathfinder Day features an introduction to the OCTC campuses, campus tours, and a variety of introductions to resources offered to students.

Students attended a virtual workshop to learn best practices and resources that will help them prepare for an interview.
