Owensboro Community and Technical College

Students attended OCTC's Pathfinder Day - a new student orientation day held on OCTC's Main Campus. New students were able to find their classes, visit the cyber center, have their student ID made, explore the campus and talk with OCTC representatives.

OCTC's Political Science Instructor, Nicole Nacey, discussed the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Ammendment and Antoine-Smith Rouse discussed the importance of voter registration. Students attended the session in honor of the annual Constitution Day celebration.

Attended a student discussion with OCTC President Dr. Scott Williams. Sponsored by the OCTC Student Government Association (SGA).

Students attended this event to meet OCTC's Experiential Learning Center Team and learned how they help students overcome barriers to get on the right path to career success. OCTC's ELC services include Experiential Learning Opportunity (ELO) assistance, career services, workshops and more.

OCTC's Experiential Learning Center session focused on how to find bank(s) to fit students personal/financial needs and other things students should consider when planning for their financial future.

OCTC's Experiential Learning Center's new Career Success platform, Purple Briefcase, is designed to help students with their career preparation needs. Features include interest profiler, internship, mentorship, and job search and resume review. This session included informatoin about the interactive tool and instructions on setting up a Purple Briefcase profile.

Guest speaker Jaydee Graham will motivate students to persevere and to find their voice as she shares her personal experience with drug abuse and relationship abuse.

Students will learn strategies to help them save money while grocery shopping, including avoiding shopping while hungry, planning meals ahead of time based on sale items, and looking at cost per unit.

Staying organized can help a person maintain a clear picture of what needs to be completed and when. Participants were given an academic planner to assist them in trying to use their time productively and efficiently.

Attended OCTC's unique version of StudentFest Fall '20 event held on OCTC's Main Campus. Students were able to explore different services provided by OCTC, as well as talk with representatives from community organizations that provide resources to OCTC students.

Students attended an event featuring Mindy Kennada from Building Stronger Families. Mindy spoke about strengthening and deepening relationships among family members, finding balance between, work, school, and home life, and providing various resources to help students achieve these goals.

Students participated in a Microsoft Teams Training with Dr. Meredith Skaggs.

Students attended the 3rd Annual Girl's Empowerment Trail Blazer Event hosted by the OCTC Foundation, Inc. Featuring DIY Network's Catrina Kidd, host of the popular show "Texas Flip N Move." A successful entrepreneur and longtime do-it-yourselfer, Kidd has a strong history of spectacular remodels. She previously helped out as a contractor for the Snow Sisters and has now teamed up with Casey Hester. She is also vice president for a restaurant group called Yucatan Taco Stand.
