The OCTC Program Honor Student Awards are exemplary students nominated by faculty in the discipline area. The honor recipient for Mathematics is John Laclair. Knight participated in the OCTC Early College program earning an Associate in Science, and a diploma from Hancock County High School. He was also recognized with High Distinction,earning a 3.6 or higher grade point average on all work attempted.

Each year the Owensboro Rotary Club recognizes outstanding local high school and college graduates through the Larry Hager Award. Ms. Kaylee Meador was selected as the 2018-19 graduate at a special Rotary Awards Luncheon this month. Students attended OCTC's Cornerstone Campus Ministry student group's presentation, "The Anatomy and Physiology of the Crucifixion" on April 17, 2019. The program was developed by Dr. Eddie Leach, program coordinator for Veterinary Technology and examines the act of crucifixion from a scientific perspective.

Students attended the Celebration of the History and Creation of OCTC's Virginia Miles Nature Center. Featuring Dr. Kit Gallagher and her new book, "Creating an Outdoor Classroom Wildlife Refuge at Owensboro Community and Techinal College" on April 9, 2019.

Congratulations to OCTC student Bar Jor, originally from Burma, for passing his citizenship test! His Intercultural Communications class celebrated with a ""suprise" cookie cake and well wishes! OCTC President Scott Williams stopped by to wish him well and join in on the fun!
