Students received an academic planner and given instructions on how to use it to effectively manage their time.

During the Fall 2023 TRiO Orientation, members met one another, received a folder of information regarding the program, and then listened to a presentation about overcoming the fear of failure.

Students attended OCTC's Student Fest Fall '23 event held on OCTC's Main Campus. Students were able to explore different services provided by OCTC, as well as talk with representatives from community organizations that provide resources to OCTC students.

Students attended OCTC's student orientation - Pathfinder Day - held on the Main Campus. Pathfinder Day features an introduction to the OCTC campuses, campus tours, and a variety of introductions to resources offered to students.

Students participated in an engaging Time Management workshop that encouraged them to discuss and problem solve with in groups to prioritize, organize, and communicate in real time to improve their effective use of the time they have and plan out their futures for the days, weeks, and months ahead to maximize this critical resource.

The Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) Dean's List recognizes the academic excellence of students in Spring 2023 who earned at least a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) while completing 12 hours or more of coursework numbered 100 or above. Part-time students enrolled in 3 to 11 credit hours with a cumulative 3.5 GPA and successfully completed a total of at least 15 KCTCS semester credits of coursework numbered 100 or above.

Students attended a presentation by Venerable Tsering Phuntsok - "Transforming Lives: Teaching Compassion" Venerable Tsering Phuntsok is a Tibetan Buddhist monk from Nepal who has traveled the world to spread compassion and teach about Tibetan culture, monastic life, and dharma. For over 30 years, he has studied and practiced Tibetan Buddhism through traditional scriptures, ritual practices, and retreats. He has also helped develop health and water projects for Tibetan refugees, hosted international groups in India and Nepal for cultural exchange and volunteer programs, and provided instruction in Buddhism and meditation for students across the globe

Students attended an engaging face to face workshop covering tips and practice techniques to support students as they prepare to face the challenges of finishing their classes successfully.

Students attended an engaging face to face workshop covering information on the different types of job interview formats, learn interview practice techniques, as well as craft and practice answers to common interview questions they may encounter.

Students participated in a workshop led by an Experiential Learning Center Success Coach. Resume skills and best practices to get noticed by recruiters and hiring managers were demonstrated.

Loving oneself is essential to personal growth and in developing healthy, happy relationships with others. This workshop focused on ways to promote self-care, establish boundaries, and realize our value.

Students were provided various strategies and approaches to improve their ability to study and to retain and recall information.

Owensboro Area World Affairs Council Event Dr. Lee Prosser, Curator of Kensington Palace, will remotely present "Kensington Palace and the Modern British Monarchy", Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 11:00 am in Blandford Hall.

Attended the OCTC Student Government Association's, 2022 Hanging of the Green event in the Advanced Technology Center, on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

Students attended a virtual workshop to learn how to use the Am I Job Ready platform (which features soft skill assessments, career skills training videos and employee engagement tools) to help them measure and develop the skills that will make them more employable.

Students attended an ELC sponsored community forum for Healthcare careers and engaged in presentation and questions for representatives from Owensboro Health staff who discussed a variety of healthcare career options for students. In addition to our Allied Health program options, they discussed nurse educator roles, patient care technicians, nurse assistant roles, clinical positions, and more.

Student participated in the Fall 22 GG Talbott Memorial 5k Road Race.

Students visited the UK Extension Office on campus where they received valuable tips on how to eat healthy on a budget. Additionally, students got to sample some of the foods the employees prepared, received the recipes for the simple dishes, and received a grocery list memo pad and meal planning sheets.
