Owensboro Community and Technical College is proud to partner with Western Kentucky University and offer students the opportunity to earn a Paralegal Studies degree. Students would take the first two years of study at OCTC earning an associate degree. The student would then transfer to WKU and complete the Bachelor of Arts degree.     During the WKU in Owensboro Advisory Council bi-annual meeting on Monday, May 7, OCTC President Scott Williams and WKU's Associate Vice President of Extended Learning & Outreach, Dr. Beth Laves announced the agreement between OCTC and WKU.  They acknowledged that the partnership would not be possible without the work of OCTC Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Veena Sallan, Academic Dean, Dr. Marc Maltby and Academic Dean, Dr. Stacy Edds-Ellis who worked closely with Dr. Julie Shadoan, Dr. Scott Lesley, WKU's Chair of the Political Science Department and the WKU staff in Owensboro.

Owensboro Community & Technical College's (OCTC) Oak Island Theatre is presenting a double shot of comedy this week featuring two of Neil Simon's classic plays. OCTC's Oak Island Players will perform "Barefoot in the Park" on Wednesday, April 24 and Friday, April 26.  They will also produce "Star-Spangled Girl" on Thursday, April 25 and Saturday, April 27. All performances are directed by Dr. Julia Ledford, will begin at 7 p.m. and be held in Blanford Hall, located in the Humanities building on OCTC's Main Campus at 4800 New Hartford Road, Owensboro.

The Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Connie Ford, OCTC Professor of Music, and accompanied by local piano instructor Angela Bruce, will perform a spring concert at First Christian Church on Monday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m.      The programmed sacred and secular works  feature composers from the late 18thcentury to the present including such composers as Johann Caspar Aiblinger, Knut Nystedt, Johannes Brahms, Z. Randall Stroope, René Clausen, Eleanor Daley, and Ralph Manuel.  In its thirty-third year, the forty-five voice chorus, comprised of community members, college students, and high school students, has presented fall and spring concerts continually since the spring of 1987.

About Owensboro Community and Technical College

Owensboro Community & Technical College is a public, two-year, open admissions college accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is one of the sixteen colleges that make up the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS). The college values innovation, is focused on student learning, and is responsive to economic trends.  

Most OCTC students are from the counties of Daviess, Ohio, Hancock and McLean in Kentucky, but many others travel from elsewhere in Kentucky and southern Indiana. 

These Merit pages are used to celebrate the successes of our students and will serve them as an online portfolio of achievements.
